Purpose: This research was done to identify the predictors influencing depression in community dwelling older women living alone.

Methods: The participants were 180 women aged 65 or over and data were collected using questionnaires which included general characteristics, perceived health status, loneliness, meaning in life, and depression. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Welch¡¯s test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS Statistics 22.0 for Windows program.

Results: The mean age of the participants was 77.84¡¾5.99 years. The mean score for depression was 5.74¡¾4.41. Percentage of participants experiencing depression was 31.7%. Perceived health status (¥â=.16, p=.022), loneliness (¥â=.41, p<.001), and meaning in life (¥â=-.27, p<.001) were significantly associated with depression in community dwelling older women living alone.
